This Valentine T-shirt wreath project comes from Chelsea and Nate who run the family blog Someday I’ll Learn, where they tackle domestic life…one day at a time!
“I don’t wear pink. I’m not sure how so many pink shirts keep winding up in my closet. Fortunately, I have a good way to put them to use.
This T-shirt wreath is perfect for Valentine’s Day and can be made in an afternoon using craft items you probably already have around the house.”
- Pink cotton shirt, any size
- Wreath frame
- White tulle or other sheer fabric
- Beads, white or pink
- Craft glue
Cut the seam off the bottom of the shirt; you can save that for another craft.
Create a long strip of fabric by cutting an approximately one-inch wide strip from the bottom of the shirt, working continuously upward from the front of the shirt to the back of the shirt.
Stop when you’ve cut about halfway up the shirt and remove the strip from the rest of the T-shirt material.
Pull the entire length of the strip tautly through your fingers. This will make the fabric piece longer and prevent it from fraying as much.
Wrap the entire length of the fabric strip around the wreath until the entire wreath frame is covered.
Tuck the ends under and glue if necessary to hold them in place.
Cut small hearts of varying sizes from the remaining shirt fabric and from the tulle.
Place the fabric hearts along the outer edge of the wreath, layering them on top of each other if desired.
Glue the fabric hearts down with the craft glue.
Place one bead on top of several tulle hearts and glue on top of the fabric hearts that you already glued down.
Repeat sporadically throughout the wreath (it’s not necessary to do this in any particular pattern; I think it looks nice to have the beads and tulle placed randomly).
Hang it up to show your crafty love to the whole neighborhood. Happy Valentine’s Day!
